St. George’s Hospital is a tertiary referral center providing one of the largest specialised cardiology services in London. The cardiac physiology service at St George’s performs over 50 000 cardiac investigations and procedures per year including: 20,000 Echo’s.

You will be joining a team of 65 staff comprised of Cardiac Physiologists admin and support staff – who work together to support a team of highly skilled world class Cardiology Consultants.

The echocardiography department provides a service to a varied cohort of patients in numerous settings within the hospital, including 3 Intensive care units and a large CCU. We support a number of specialist services including: Cardiac thoracic surgery, Interventional structurally heart disease, and the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

Our department has top spec echocardiography machines and analytical systems / software. All of which have strain and 3D capability. We have a multi-vendor fleet of Echo machines from GE, Siemens and Phillips.

As a Band 7 Highly specialised Cardiac Physiologist this role will also provide opportunities to enhance your skills as a clinical practitioner by working independently in the Physiologist / Clinical Scientist led: Valve clinics, Stress echoes, and community clinics located in clinic in South Wimbledon and Roehampton. More specialised training will be provided in Stress echo, 3D, Speckle and strain.

You will be expected to have BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent and HCPC registration as clinical scientist or AHCS practitioner/ RCCP registration with 2-3 years’ experience at band 6 level. BSE accreditation (or European equivalent) is essential for this post.

A 15% recruitment and retention premium will be added to your salary in addition to high cost living allowance (HCA). Furthermore, there are opportunities to participate in a weekend waiting list initiative and private work at enhance rates.
